Sanders was born in 1890 in Henryville, IN. When he was six years old, his father passed away leaving Sanders to cook and care for his siblings. In seventh grade, he dropped out of school and left home to go work as a farmhand. Already turning into a tough cookie.

At 16, he faked his age to enlist in the United States army. After being honorably discharged a year later, he got hired by the railway as a laborer. However, he got fired for fighting with a coworker. While he worked for the railway, he studied law--until he ruined his legal career by getting into another fight. Sanders was forced to move back in with his mom and get a job selling life insurance. And guess what? He got fired for insubordination. But this guy wouldn't give up.

In 1920, he founded a ferry boat company. Later, he tried cashing in his ferry boat business to create a lamp manufacturing company only to find out that another company already sold a better version of his lamp. Poor guy couldn't catch a break.

It wasn't until age 40 that he began selling chicken dishes in a service station. As he began to advertise his food, an argument with a competitor resulted in a deadly shootout. Four years later, he bought a motel which burned to the ground along with his restaurant. Yet this determined man rebuilt and ran a new motel until World War II forced him to close it down.

Following the war, he tried to franchise his restaurant. His recipe was rejected 1,009 times before anyone accepted it. Sander's "secret recipe" was coined "Kentucky Fried Chicken", and quickly became a hit. However, the booming restaurant was crippled when an interstate opened nearby so Sanders sold it and pursued his dream of spreading KFC franchises & hiring KFC workers all across the country.

After years of failures and misfortunes, Sanders finally hit it big. KFC expanded internationally and he sold the company for two million dollars ($15.3 million today). Even today, Sanders remains central in KFC's branding and his face still appears in their logo. His goatee, white suit and western string tie continue to symbolize delicious country fried chicken all over the world.

At age 90, Sanders passed away from pneumonia. At that time, there were around 6,000 KFC locations in 48 countries. By 2013, there were an estimated 18,000 KFC locations in 118 countries.

3. Leave your ego behind : There is nothing more tiresome than trying to talk to someone who has no opinion on anything. A conversation has nowhere to go if you have nothing to expound on. If, however, you have an uncommon point of view or differing opinion, you are more interesting and       stimulating to be with socially. 

4. Meet New People :  Making new connections can help teach you more about others and build your social skills. Seek friendships with those different from your current friends so you can become a more well-rounded person. You might join a club at your school to meet new folks, go to a church, or find a group tailored to your interests, like a book club.

5. Be yourself : The next most tiresome thing after having no opinions is trying to be something     you're not. Molding yourself in order to fit in, or be accepted. Since each of us is unique, expressing that uniqueness is what makes us interesting. Attempting to be a carbon copy of someone else not only falls flat, but reveals a lack of authenticity.

6. Be fun and see the humorous side of life : Everyone enjoys the company of someone who makes them laugh, or smile, so look for the humorous, quirky side in a situation - there always is one. When you add fun and lightheartedness to an otherwise dull or gloomy setting, others will naturally be attracted to you, not to mention grateful.

7. Be supportive of others :  Being supportive is probably the most endearing quality you can integrate into your personality. Just as you yourself welcome it, be the support for others when they need it. We all love a cheerleader in our corner; someone who is encouraging, believes in us and helps pick us up when we're down.

8. Try to stay calm in tense situations : A lot of people seem like they have a good personality until you see them in an emergency or tense situation. Then they lose their cool. Don’t be this person! If you are in a tense situation, try to remain relaxed and see what you can do to resolve the situation.

Some Reasons Being Self-Critical Can Make You More Successful..

Most of the time, we think of self-criticism as a bad thing, and more likely to hold you back than boost you in your career. But there are several  reason here which tell you that being self-critical can help you achieve your goals.

1. You're always getting better.

"People who are self-critical are always analyzing the situation, whether the outcome was good or bad," O'Donnell says. "They are always seeking ways to improve." People who are already content with themselves may not try quite as hard to do better.

2. You think everything through--several times.

This is something I tend to do. It can be a benefit when I make well-thought-out, informed decisions, or a drawback when I take too long to make up my mind. Still, as O'Donnell points out, "Being self-critical means answering the potential questions that may arise. This leads to being overly prepared when presenting the work." Over-prepared is certainly better than under-prepared.

3. You listen to others. 

Listening is a key leadership skill, and one too many leaders are bad at. People who are self-critical may be better than most at listening to others. "Not only do people who are self-critical evaluate themselves, they are constantly seeking feedback too," O'Donnell says. "There's always room to improve and they want to hear other people's suggestions on how to do so."

4. You're self-aware.

"People who are self-critical are self-aware," O'Donnell says. "They know exactly where they need to improve, which is crucial to continue growing and developing in your career." It's certainly true that the ability to see yourself as others see you is a key skill for effective leaders, and just about everyone else.

5. Your ego never runs away with you.

Someone who's gotten ten promotions in 11 years might well be in danger of getting a swelled head. O'Donnell says being self-critical prevents that from happening. "The minute people think they no longer need direction or feedback because they do their job perfectly is the minute they slip and fall behind," says. "Continuously questioning your processes keeps you from developing an ego."

6. Over time, you will learn to go after bigger opportunities.

"For sure there have been times where being self-critical has caused doubt to creep in," O'Donnell says. "You have a support structure built in with a manager, coworkers, a team that believes in you and just because you might not think you're ready doesn't mean you won't be stretched outside of your comfort zone."

Over time, she adds, being pushed outside your comfort zone and succeeding anyway will give you more confidence for seeking new challenges. "As you grow as a professional, your ability to reflect stops leading to your inability to act," she says.

This is the one point where I truly disagree with O'Donnell, at least for some situations. Her support structure obviously worked for her at LaSalle Network, but not every employer or team provides the same kind of encouragement. And if you're a business owner or solopreneur, you're unlikely to get new opportunities to grow unless you go after them yourself.

7. You can enjoy your failures as well as your successes.

"Being self-critical isn't about defining only one way to do something--the "perfect way," O'Donnell explains. "It's about learning all of the options available to you so you don't only default to one way of doing things or one way of thinking."

Sourav Ganguly was not too happy with the attitude of Sri Lanka's players.

Former India captain Sourav Ganguly came down hard on the Sri Lankan cricket team after they complained about air quality at Delhi's Feroz Shah Kotla on Day 2 of the 3rd Test. Ganguly raised questions over the attitude of the Lankan players after their complaints led to play being stopped on multiple occasions. "It's just that, the mask was on when they were fielding and no mask when they were batting, it has forced me to ask this question whether the Sri Lankan attitude was right or not," Ganguly said. Sri Lankan fielders on Sunday complained of health issues and the umpires consulted the match referee and team doctors. Play resumed but Sri Lanka protested again, with the visitors soon short on fielders as pacemen Lahiru Gamage and Suranga Lakmal returned to the pavilion. Ganguly, who is now part of BCCI's Cricket Advisory Committee and President of the Cricket Association of Bengal, said the events of the day had left him a bit worried.

"When they (Sri Lanka) came out to bat, I didn't see any mask on all of those five batsmen who were at the crease. Nobody had the mask and if you look at the pavilion they were sitting in, there was no mask either. So, I don't know how everything changed in such a quick time. If Gamage and Lakmal were running it with a mask, even Angelo Mathews was running for ones and twos. It's the same thing. What surprised me is that they never complained, wore the mask or made a show of it. That's the worrying bit and I hope the intentions were not bad," Ganguly told India Today.

Sri Lanka captain Dinesh Chandimal on Monday appeared to be struggling due to pollution as he signalled to the dressing room to suggest he was feeling uneasy. Sri Lanka's physio was out on the field to assess the situation, leading to a brief halt in play. The right-hander, however, continued to bat on and score his 10th Test ton.

Bharti Airtel's New plan

Customers of Bharti Airtel's home broadband connection will now be able to carry forward their unused data to the next month, the company said on Tuesday. Bharti Airtel, the country's largest telecom service provider, already lets postpaid users carry forward their unused data to next month. This new offer will now allow broadband users also to get huge data benefits. This offer from the Sunil Bharti Mittal-led company comes to counter the strong competition that Airtel and other incumbent operators are facing due to aggressive data pricing by Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Jio.

Here are five things that you must know about Airtel's data rollover offer for broadband users:
1. Under the 'Data Rollover' facility for its home broadband customers, Bharti Airtel said "all unused monthly data will be carried forward and added to the data benefit of the next billing cycle".

2.  Customers will be able accumulate up to 1,000 GB data and the same can be tracked on MyAirtel App.

3. "Our home broadband users no longer have to worry about their unused data, which will always be available to them. Home broadband continues to drive the massive growth of in-home consumption of online content," Bharti Airtel CEO - Homes George Mathen said in a statement.

4. Airtel Home Broadband has over 2.1 million customers and is the second largest home broadband provider in India, the statement said.

5. In July, Airtel had introduced a similar plan for its postpaid mobile customers as part of Project Next.

Demonetization India Anniversary

On November 8, 2016, the country was in shock as a drastic step that changed everything overnight, financially that is, was taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It has been a year now, since the time when Demonetisation, the most debatable issue was introduced to the economy. While people have been arguing over its positive and negative impact over the last one year, a report by Indian Express states that with the return of cash, the country saw a surge in gold. The customs and other investigative agencies reported that in the year since demonetisation, there has been a surge in gold smuggling at airports in the first five months of 2017.

A total of 260 smuggling cases were reported at the country's second-largest airport by passenger traffic in Mumbai from January-May 2017 which is double of the same period a year ago. The report further stated that 125.3 kg of gold worth Rs 33.71 crore was seized by the airport Customs in those five months as compared to the 66.73 kg gold worth Rs 17.26 crore seized a year ago. 243 kg of smuggled gold worth Rs 61.85 crore had been seized by the Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) of Mumbai Customs till October 2017 in a total of 564 cases. This numbers, is over 100 percent more than what AIU had seized during the same period a year ago. While Mumbai reported a 100 percent increase in the value of smuggling, the Hyderabad airport Customs registered at least 40 cases until August this year, against 10 cases in the same period a year ago.

A source on the condition of anonymity as quoted in the report said, "Demonetization put a temporary dent in gold smuggling largely because the currency was squeezed out of the system. Now, with remuneration, the smuggling racket is back in action. The rise in seizures of smuggled gold at airports between January and May 2017 indicates that the existing demand for gold is not being met through official channels."

As far as the currency in the banks are concerned, a drop from Rs 17,74,200 crore on November 4, 2016, to Rs 8,73,416 crore by January 6, 2017 in the circulation was reported as people rushed to the banks to deposit demonetized currency. By April 28, the currency in circulation had risen to Rs 14,06,968 crore.

Global digital payments major PayPal on Wednesday announced its India operations, after offering cross-border payments in the country for close to a decade, the company said.
In a statement issued here PayPal Holdings, Inc, said: "At launch, Indian consumers can use PayPal to shop online at some of India's most popular businesses.
"Merchants offering PayPal will be able to process both local and global payments through PayPal, getting access to PayPal's 218 million customers around the world and in India through a single integration."
"PayPal has been offering cross-border payments in India for close to a decade enabling SMEs and freelancers to leverage the global opportunity," the company said.
The Indian government's recent push towards digital payments has also led PayPal to partner with government and state-owned banks on number of initiatives, including digital financial literacy programme and eTourist Visa (eTV), the company said.
"We will be targeting the Global Indian and have partnered with merchants catering to this segment giving them a truly global seamless payments experience.
"India is transitioning away from our biggest competitor - cash - and our digital platform and technology has immense scope to enable this at scale. For us, the marathon has just begun," Anupam Pahuja, Country Manager and Managing Director, PayPal India was quoted as saying in the statement.

Ask your audience questions or have them ask you questions, get them moving, or otherwise change up how you’re interacting with them.
